Get the most out of your corn hole bags!

Posted by Jay on 15th Sep 2015

Making your corn hole bags last is just as simple as the corn hole boards, store them in a cool dry place. We recommend in a place that is harder for critters to get to (in a closet instead of the garage). There is nothing more frustrating than pulling bags out to play and finding out all the corn has been eaten out of them. Another trick I do is place my bags in the freezer for a couple of days while they are not in use. I do this from time to time, this will kill any unwanted bugs in the bags. Over time corn beetles and other pesky insects can get in the bags and slowly eat the corn.

With all that said, your corn filled bags will not live forever. The corn in the bags will break down over time do to the natural play of the game. This is the white dust you see come out of the bags when they land on the board. This can not be prevented, but the bags should last a couple years with light to medium use.

Another alternative is all weather resin filled bags. These bags do not have corn in them, they contain a plastic resin bead. These beads allow the corn hole bags to get wet, with no negative effects. When corn gets wet it swells and this will ruin a normal set of corn hole bags. The resin filled bags can be laid out and once they are dry they can be played with again. Another plus to these bags is they do not attract critters or bugs. Because of these positive features, all weather bags do cost more than corn filled bags.
